Orange County Fourth District will designate $15 million in federal funds to local small businesses and organizations as part of an emergency grant relief program

ORANGE COUNTY Calif., June 22, 2020 — The Orange County Fourth District Small Business Grant Relief Program was announced today to help its small businesses and non-profits experiencing financial losses resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Applicants can apply for up to $10,000 depending on need based on the new program.

“I am excited to announce the launch of the Fourth District program in partnership with the Small Business Development Center at Cal State Fullerton,” said Supervisor Doug Chaffee. “Small Businesses are the backbone of our economy. I am thrilled to be of any assistance in helping them succeed.” Eligible businesses can apply beginning Monday, June 22nd at 10:00 a.m. until Friday, June 26th at 11:59 p.m. via an online portal or in person.

A random selection of grantees will be chosen based on each city’s population. Fourth District cities include Brea, Fullerton, La Habra, Placentia, most of Anaheim, part of Buena Park, and unincorporated communities.

Funds will be allocated depending on proof of need, including loss of sales, layoffs or forced shutdown due to COVID-19. Business with no more than 25 employees are eligible. For more information about the grant program, businesses are encouraged to attend the informational webinars to be held on Tuesday, June 23rd at 4:00 p.m. in Spanish and Wednesday, June 24th at 12:00 p.m. in English.

To provide businesses direct access to business consulting and training services in addition to the grant relief, Supervisor Chaffee partnered with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) hosted by California State University, Fullerton. Small business owners are urged to contact the SBDC, a trusted community resource for small businesses for help in applying. The SBDC will also help the grant awardees — at no cost — to prepare applications and required documents.
